Introduction to Addictions – has loved one in active addiction

What is the group and what will I learn?
This in-person 2-hour psycho-education group is for spouses, caregivers, friends, family members, or other whose loved one is in active addiction. In this 2 hour introduction to addictions session, you will learn:
-The working definition of addiction and models of addiction
-The stages of change
-Brief overview of substances and other behaviours
-The family system and addiction
-How to approach a loved one who is in active addiction
-How to support a love one in active addiction or recovery
-Intervention, disengagement, and “active” rather then “reactive” responses
-self care
-Counselling children and/or adult sons/daughters
 
Dates and times:
The group will be total 2 hours in length. Please contact the center for more information on when the next dates will be.
 
Cost:
$100 – with amount due in full when registering.

Please note, if you have insurance, employee benefits, or other coverage, it is your responsibility to confirm coverage before registering for the group. An invoice will be provided of which you can submit for reimbursement from your provider.
