What to Expect

If you have decided to book a session, group or workshop with us, you will be directed to a booking site called “Jane”. You will be able to select a time and day for your appointment type. If you are a first time client, you will be required to set up an account (one time). A credit card is required to book for any service at NuHealing Therapy & Wellness. The therapist will be notified of the appointment and you will receive reminder notifications. Prior to session start time, you will receive an email with a link to join virtually. Follow the directions and link and you will be connected with your therapist. If you have any questions before booking, please email NuHealing Therapy & Wellness Center and someone will be in touch within 24 hours. 

Common Questions

Individual session times are 50 minutes. The remaining ten minutes are reserved for the therapist to write their case notes and documentation. Group session times vary, but typically run for 60-90 minutes, weekly, for a certain number of weeks.

As NuHealing Therapy & Wellness Center is completely on-line, sessions, groups, workshops and webinars are offered virtually. This means you can access your session or group from the comfort of your home, office or other location using any electronic device of your choice. All you have to do is access the link sent to your e-mail about 30 minutes prior to session time. Some people prefer virtual appointments. We apologize if you were hoping for an in-person session. When it’s the right time, we will let you know. 

Our fees are based on the recommended fee guidelines as put forward by the College of Alberta Psychologists. We charge $200 for 50 minute individual and couple therapy sessions. Group and workshop fees will vary, but will be advertised on the site when the next group or workshop runs. If the recommended fee guidelines change and we decide to increase our fees, there will be ample notice provided and will also be updated on the site. 

If you have personal or group coverage, please contact us or fill in your insurance details when you book for your initial session on ‘Jane’. 

You will find “booking” buttons on our website. You will be directed to the “Jane” booking site where you will be prompted to register an account (one time). You will be able to pick a therapist, service, time and date that fits you best. We can also book an appointment for you. Please send us an e-mail and someone will contact you within 24 hours. 

We will never disclose session notes or the nature of each session with any third party unless you provide written consent to release your information. There are times where insurance providers or third parties may request progress updates or reports. The process will be discussed with you in your session. As by the laws of the province and the therapists governing bodies, there are exceptions when your therapist may have to share your information without your consent. This is reviewed in your initial/first appointment with your therapist. 

Absolutely! We offer free 15 minute consultations. It’s important you feel comfortable with your therapist and that they are able to meet your treatment needs and/or goals. Please e-mail the center and someone will follow up within 24 hours. 

Therapy sessions carry both benefits and risks. Counselling is generally beneficial to most individuals that can include reduction of distress, improved relationships, and/or resolve of other issues. However, these improvements and any “cures” cannot be guaranteed for any condition due to various factors that can affect these sessions. At times some topics may be upsetting to discuss or you may have experiences of uncomfortable feelings. These are considered risks of therapy sessions.  Keeping scheduled appointments and following through on recommendations is the best way to benefit from counselling.  

The appointment time you have booked is reserved exclusively for you. Cancellation or re-scheduling of appointments requires twenty-four (24) hours advance notification. The booking program we use will send you reminders of your appointment 48 and 24 hours prior. This provides an opportunity to cancel or reschedule as needed. Unfortunately, if you cancel your appointment less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment you will be charged 50% of a full session fee ($100). 

At any time you may withdraw consent for treatment for any reason and without prejudice. Please let us know in writing if you would like to withdraw treatment consent and we will make every effort to recommend or refer you to another therapist. If your therapist should cancel your treatment consent, this will be discussed directly with you prior and every effort will be made to refer you to another therapist.
