Cognitive behavioural therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)

CBT-I comprises several evidence-based insomnia interventions for trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, Traumatic brain injury, sleep apnea, and nightmares. If you have trouble falling asleep, waking up earlier than you want to, frequent awakening during the night, or nightmares, CBT-I may be helpful for you.
 
CBT-I is a brief treatment (6 sessions) that helps you learn about your sleep pattern and behaviors that may contribute to insomnia (e.g., sleep logs). You will also be armed with knowledge about healthy sleep. Tips to improve sleep are explored as well.
 
Some people with insomnia may also have one of the other sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or restless leg syndrome. If you think you have insomnia, we invite you to speak to a physician to rule out underlying medical conditions contributing to sleep (e.g. sleep apnea). You can still access this treatment if you have these conditions.
 
*Some CBT -I treatment interventions may worsen medical conditions such as sleep apnea if the condition is left untreated. We may recommend a sleep referral before commencing treatment for insomnia.
